A genderfluid ballerinx is dancing in Sleeping Beauty. (The article says ballerina, the feminine form.  Most people don't even know ballerino, the male form.  Since the dancer is genderfluid, I'm saying ballerinx.)  I think the stuffy world of formal dance needs a kick in the tights anyhow. \o/

I've taken to just saying ballet dancer, or "x" dancer depending on the style, to avoid such problems as the article shows.

Ballerin(a/o)? I typically use ballerina/male ballet dancer but clearly that's not right for a gender fluid dancer. In context ballerinx seems fine, thought it does take me into a roller derby state of mind.

(Then there are male ballerinas, such as Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo)

I think the reason they said 'ballerina' is that they are dancing ballerina roles for the company. (IIRC, this dancer was with the Trocks at one point).

Yes, the article said for 14 years. The reason I noticed it and remembered it:
When I was in high school, a teacher named Anne-Dore Davids probably saved my sanity and possibly my life. After graduation (1965) I asked to stay in touch with her, and she was to me, quoting a song I wrote, "dearest of friends till the day that she died".
And through her I came to know of the Trocks.

In the summer after my graduation she was wardrobe mistress for the Trocks. I saw several of their shows with her. I particularly remember going in a cab with her to a rehearsal, carrying a swan that she had made as part of a costume for their "Swan Lake". I said in was rendering them a "cygnificant service".

I read a couple articles on Chase Jonsey, and he consistently & specifically refers to himself as a ballerina, so thats what I went with.

Gender fluidity sure is interesting
