Clearly, I oopsed some books in there. That is 11.8 novels (using the Nebula's 40,000 word threshold) worth of words. Two are officially over that threshold: "No Winter Lasts Forever" and "Hide and Seek." However, "Coming in from the Cold" is really one story, which is why it's titled the way it is (Title: Day: Subtitle). I just broke it into smaller sections so I could actually post the finished bits.

That series is by far the most popular fanfic I've written, although my superhero series Polychrome Heroics is the most popular of my original work and I think bigger in volume.

Heh. I may have to look to this for a *checklist*...

Note: the 40k novel is very much a beginner's mark these days; it's only 80pp of US Letter singlespaced... I mean, it *is* the point where you transition from a single-threaded novella (e.g. Shawshank) to something big enough to do justice to a B thread... most "first novels" tend to check in in the 55-80k range (Harry Potter started at the high end - 332 pp. (~80k) in the original format for Philospher's Stone, and worked *up*) ... still. It's enough to get you the award. :)

*snrk* Most modern novels suffer from bloat. That includes professional ones. I'm a reviewer; I've read tens of thousands of books; I've seen the change. I've seen an author turn what would've made a great short story into a lousy book. I've seen novels within a single series go from a concise half-inch to nearly two inches in width. It's a disaster. This is exacerbated by the fact that modern publishers rarely buy anything between around 5000 or 7000 words and 80,000 or 100,000. Which is pathetic.

You only have one Polychrome Heroics story up on AO3. I'll bet it would be more popular if you ported some other ones over there.
