Indeed! The problem is that magick often has a mind of its own, and does what it wants to do, instead of what you want it to do. Then the temptation is to try to clamp down as hard as possible on the magick, to force it to behave the way you want. This, of course, has the exact opposite effect. And the more the magick runs wild, the harder you try to control it... and round and round in a vicious circle until you become terrified, decide you hate magick, or just burn out.
The right way to go about it, of course, is to direct the magick, not control it. Figure out what it's trying to do, and just sort of nudge it gently in the direction of what you want. Playing with soap bubbles is good practice for this :-)
