Some of us NEED electric cords. The rubber around the metal protects the conduit inside the wire from outside interference. Such as me. I can use a mouse with a cord. I tried a cordless mouse. It didn't work very well and died after two weeks. Technology is evolving in a direction away from what I can use, and it's maddening. Things exist that I can use, but nobody wants to make them anymore, which means I can do less. >_
Familiar problem, though on my end it's a hardware problem because clumsiness makes me break the usb connector they provide. They need to start putting usb ports on the back side of laptops again, hidden behind the screen.
Though I do think that for anything customarily against a wall, maybe an embedded retractable cord would work? Keep it from all tangling, especially behind televisions and desktop computers. Else, houses may begin to be built like some stages, with covers on the floor to prevent tripping over wires.
That's interesting about the mouse - I've only used a corded one. The two-month old lappy has a touchpad, which works well and to me, is better than a touchscreen, which would mean lifting the hands and getting all out of place re the keyboard.
Let's hope tech helps us rather than the opposite this day!
Actually, new construction should be specified with channels in the walls that feed all the way to an access point, so any added cables can be zip zap run easy peasy.
Have you had any luck contacting some of the retro-technology people? I bet in among the ham radio and legacy-philes, someone is going to be mustering inputs for awhile.
