I looked at the description of the armor, paused and blinked a bit. "...? .... oh! It's plasteel fiber!" Plasteel is actually a composite material of metal, ceramic, and medium- to high-temperature plastics. It can be foamed, spun, cast, 3D printed and so on. The material aligns in a crystalline structure that is damnhard but can be flexible if thin (can't be drawn but not too brittle).
