The usual two-edged sword... I don't have "factory standard" junk either, and I ducked out on a lot of the societal-constraint cr@p that most people are brainwashed into downloading, due to the combination of "foo [family of origin] goo" and other environmental factors.
Like ysabetwordsmith, I think that my brain works considerably more effectively than most other humans I've met, and I have a mounting body of evidence that says its clock speed is noticeably faster as well. There are downsides to this, but I'll keep the setup I have, and treasure it for the gift from the Universe, that it is.
