That is awesome. :D

>> Almost every cannoneer I know has a St. Barbara badge, & so do a lot of people who don't blow things up in the SCA but do just that in the military. <<

It makes sense.

>> We also have a lot of people casting metal, & a popular thing to make is, of course, more pilgrim's badges. <<

I could see Shiv getting into that. One of his standard small-scale products is coinage defaced with various designs. That's pretty similar to some of these -- and even moreso to the old kingsman coins where people would carry a disk stamped with the face of someone they supported. Punching a hole to hang one would be easy. Teasing out a pin from the back would be trickier, but Shiv could probably figure it out eventually.

>> They're often used as site tokens, so you can look at, say, someone's hat, & read off a lot of the events they've been to.<<

That's a lovely idea.

>> Pilgrim's badges are FUN. <<

Agreed.

They seem to be part of Terramagne's generally stronger tendency toward nonverbal communication. In fact, if you factor in that each saint was known for addressing certain problems, it's very nearly an early form of social alert button. Some modern milagros are even more explicit, depicting a body part or other symbol of complaint.
