The other thing about the Finns hasn't been brought up very often in Mallory's thread: they call the baby MALLORY'S. (Later, it'll be Mallory and Heron's.) There is absolutely no judgment of Mallory, and no reminders of the biological father.
I know kids who got hit with their parentage like that-- a verbal hit akin to punching someone square in the face, actually-- and never really recovered.
