I was unimpressed with the writing in To Kill a Mockingbird, but mostly, I just don't like railroad tales. I prefer heroes with agency, with the power to change things. If I wanted to see how society sucks and there's little people can do to change it, I'd watch the news. It's not what I want in literature.
