"Flack" is jargon for "publicity agent". Merriam-Webster lists a couple of unverifiable origins, one eponymous and one related to Yiddish.

The word you probably want is "flak", an acronym coined during WWII to denote the exploding shells fired at Allied aviators as they conducted bombing runs over Germany. It derives from the German word "Fliegerabwehrkannonen" (= "flyer defense cannon"), the ground-to-air artillery from which the shells were launched.
