From what I have observed, natural methods include adding colored petals/buds late in the soapmaking process, or coating them with something to help preserve the color. Glycerine seems easier than lye soaps -- I've seen whole flowers preserved in bars of glycerine.

Oh dear. One of the biggest challenges in soapmaking is to get a soap which is colored in the bar, but only foams white so that it doesn't stain.
