we do...sort of, things like Kahn Academy and TedX Online as well as the Educational sector of YouTube with channels on everything from biology to theoretical physics to chemistry and sociology. Reddit is developing quite a few little pockets of joy for those who are information seekers as well... its probably not s well organized as in TAmerica, but there are some starting to crop up
