*nods* I ended up switching majors because the math required for EE was over my head, and the EE professors were wielding the shaft, whereas the CS profs were being nice about it.
Good on the Ag prof. I'm surprised UI isn't any good at liberal arts; UT is a cow college too, and it does a right fine job of turning out psych and soc majors. (OTOH, UGA only *has* about four decent majors: Journalism, pre-law, genetics, and football. *wry*)
Dif'rent strokes on the sprouts; much rather have a leaf of butter lettuce (just one, please!)...
Little Five was a really nice place to live... until I figured out that Atlanta's urban heat island isn't *quite* invulnerable to thunderstorms. (the 2008 storm punched through a couple miles south of L5P... too close!) After the '98 Dunwoody tornado, it was just a matter of time until I got the hell out...
Earthquakes can be built for. Volcanoes you simply live outside the innundation zone, which isn't *too* hard. Winter storms can also be built for. Ditto ordinary monsoons.
Tornadoes? Not so much. Unless you're getting one of those nuke-proof missile silos...
You can bet large sums of money that if I end up where I think I'm going to, I'm getting a battery-backed-up weather-alert radio.... and hoping that the storm tracks don't wander in my direction.
