Today I cut two wheelbarrows of tall weeds from the south lot, clearing space to mow more of that.  This will open access to the volunteer maple tree that needs to be cut out of the hedge.  The tree guys are coming on Tuesday, hopefully at noon like they said, to take care of that.  Our old internet company was bought out by AT&T, which is behaving like a bull in a china shop, so my partner Doug spent the last month finding a replacement for internet and phone service.  They don't use the same towers, though, so had trouble getting a signal.  Fortunately that tree was meant for removal already, just at a later time.

I saw a hummingbird investigating the flowers in the barrel garden.  He immediately flew away again, but I got to see him.  I like hummingbirds.  They're like flying jewels.  :D  With Super-Speed as an ordinary species ability.

Round two: I picked a few blackberries.  Then I sprayed poison ivy and resprouting brush.

Yay for hummingbirds. :) There was one here that John saw last spring, but we haven't seen it since.

Good job on the weeding, and on finding a replacement service. I'm sorry the AT&T people weren't handling it well.

That's terrible. :(

>>Capitalism at its worst.<<

Very. Anything that reduces the quality or availability of services (or products) is for the worse.

Yay hummingbirds! I saw one a few weeks ago. I feel like ordinary vision is inadequate to actually observe them, they're so fast.

Last I knew, my mom had six hummingbird feeders. Our record is seven at a single one in the midst of a combination of eating and fighting.

We have four (five?) of the feeders on hanging poles. We also have a hummingbird who has taken to sitting on top and chasing away the other hummingbirds, sadly.

This is not a good year for utilities, is it.

Superspeed and Hover (which among birds is also a superpower)....

Who did you end up with for data/voice?

Well...

Our local electrical co-op. The issue was whether we could get a signal from them; the prices and speed should actually be better. Here's hoping.

COOL. I wish SPL would get into the biz.... but then, Comcast has a lock on things around here, and it's going to take more than one socialist on the city council to prise them loose..

Our electric co-op will be our new ISP; our non-smart cellphone service (voice only - no data, no text, our choice) is through Consumer Cellular.
