Thursday's Yardening

Small blackberries are done.  Large blackberries are at peak.  I have picked a full baggie of blackberries today.

I also have some kind of splendid new flower blooming in the wildflower garden, with sword-like leaves and small orange lily-flowers with spots in the throat.  I believe it is a blackberry lily. 

We got quite a bit of rain yesterday, so that's good.

EDIT: Second round, we picked up sticks from the yard by the house.

I believe you are correct--it is a blackberry lily.

There's been a lot of hybridization done on these and the hybrids are commonly called "candy lilies". Take a look:

Yum…blackberries. My daughter popped her head in yesterday and called out to me "I picked the first two blackberries off the bush in the back! Then I ate them." I suppose I'll get some eventually… ;)
