One of the things I like about this poem is how it highlights the challenges of interfacing body parts from vastly different animal types. The closer the relation, the less the trouble. Merging mammal and reptile is possible with superpowers but it tends to glitch a lot, and the problems cluster around the interface. Reptiles are designed to shed skin regularly, mammals have a completely different system, and they don't play well together.
