>> 1) Technically, the shoes in Pazzesco's picture are oxblood cordovan, which is more burgundy than brown. Still not what you want if you prefer black to go with blue, though. <<
I'm familiar with oxblood but what I've seen of it has more of a purplish-brown hue and it's coming up a more orangeish-brown on my computer screen. In any case, I don't think brown goes well with blue. Black or gray with a blue suit; blue shoes are usually overkill.
>> 2) Gabriela could be Ms. Fischer's younger sister! Or a more-distant relation (or none at all), but there's something about her that made me think she'd age into a similar look. <<
I agree about the similarity. I'm going with niece, given that Gabriela is a lot younger.
>> 3) Al looks like Cat Piss Man when he's taken the trouble to clean up a bit. <<
LOL yes.
>> 4) So a nunzio has something in common with a medieval herald -- a diplomatic envoy who has diplomatic immunity (and is expected not to abuse it). <<
Exactly. Customs like this are what distinguish the gentleman criminals from the thugs.
>> 5) I was mightily amused by the riff on Sad Puppies here. <<
Yay!
>> BTW, you do know that they're going to try again in 2016, right? They were already making noises about it before the Worldcon was even over. <<
*sigh* People really need to adapt the rules to ban this. You try to cheat, you don't get to play at all.
