Poetry Fishbowl on Tuesday, May 19

The Poetry Fishbowl has made its $250 goal three times, so that earns a bonus fishbowl on Tuesday, May 19. This time I'm doing something different: choosing a well-developed series with an eye toward plot progression. The featured series is Path of the Paladins. I'm going to list some poem concepts, then invite you to pick one you'd like to see and expand on it a little more. Take a look at these now, go back and reread the series if you want to, and mull over ideas for the fishbowl on Tuesday.
These are poems that need to be written in order to complete the story arc of Ari's novice year. They are the most important things I'd like to get done, and the most specific. If you look at the timeline, you can see that most of these will be late winter or spring poems.
Kalad joins Bodil's troop following Gorrein.
"Who Gives of Himself"
Shahana and Ari meet with a gathering of saints to discuss how to repair the tattered social fabric of the world.
"Ink"
Johan finds himself fascinated with an image of blackberries and roses twined together. Finally he decides to have it inked onto his shoulder.
LJ user The_vulture says: "Ya know, I'm really looking forward to reading about the first time Ari serves as the conduit for Gailah's power. I suspect it will be dramatic and very life altering (for more than just Ari)."
Larn does the spring planting, now with more help.
"Thorny Paths"
During a skirmish, Johan discovers a new talent regarding plants, and Althey struggles with his feelings about death.
"Forging Ahead"
Shahana takes Ari to a priest of the smith god, to have her armor fitted and a sword forged to hold the star of her service. The priest invites them to strip down to shifts in the hot smithy.
I also need some extra poems focusing on Shahana and Ari, to space those between poems about other characters. These are medium-importance, and they can be about anything as long as it features these characters and makes sense for that point in their journey. Short snippets would be especially useful, as many of the other poems in this series are long plotty ones; and upbeat topics provide leavening between the really heavy stuff.
After Kalad joining Bodil, before "Our Most Vulnerable and Powerful Selves."
Between "Knell" and "Puzzling People."
Between "Dog Tired" and "Swimming Against the Tide."
Between "No Other Teacher" and "Enlighten the Dark Corners"
Between "Hallowing" and "Winning Hands."
After Larn's spring planting, before "Thorny Paths."
Finally, think of anything else that needs to be wrapped up in this book. Are there other loose threads that you want to see tied off? Character development? Reprisal of themes? This is lower priority, but still worth collecting. I'll be soliciting ideas for paladins, deities, villains, innocent bystanders, holy ground, abandoned places, battlegrounds, refuges, moments of personal growth or discovery, new accomplishments, horrible realizations, plot twists, side scenes from previous events, gaps in the storyline that need to be filled, everyday issues transmuted into fantasy versions, enchanted or holy artifacts, symbols of faith, magic, PTSD, asexuality, families of choice, perseverance, and poetic forms in particular.
If you're interested, mark the date on your calendar, and please hold actual prompts until the "Poetry Fishbowl Open" post next week.
