>> I got a few stanzas in and began laughing so much I lost my breath.Which, of course, meant I had to read the poem aloud to hubby!<<

Yaaaayyyy! :D

>> Doctor Infanta needs to meet Cold Cash, according to him, which would be a whole different kind of fun! <<

I'm game. I think they'd like each other, especially since Cash has a puckish streak. Something else I hadn't thought about until now: Dr. Infanta could fix all the damage from that damned gizmo, not with Healing, but with Time Control. Pretty much anything not congenital can be fixed that way, without requiring the same type of skill that something like a healer would need to repair eyeballs. So that's another possible solution to his situation.

Catch is, it's not a small favor, even though it's something she could do in a short time. Rewinding someone's body like that takes real effort, because of the inertia. On the third hoof, she might do it just to spite Officer RAT.

>> Oddly, there is one dangling thread--Fiddlesticks' injury, and Doctor Infanta's reaction to it, that make me practically dance in my seat in anticipation of a sequel. <<

I do have plans to follow up on the injury, because it's not trivial. That includes oblique reference to Dr. Infanta's response. If you want direct coverage of that too, it's an option, but would need a separate poem. It really was an accident, and she's really upset, like a kid would be after a bad playground mishap. She simply didn't know that tampering with a speedster's mobility can be extremely hazardous. Slow or stop only one part, and the shear is devastating; slow the whole body at once, and that's not a problem. The superpower itself cushions some of the damage, because of how it prevents the body from tearing itself apart in the first place, but injuries are still very likely.

You've got the Creative Jam coming up with the "impossible" theme, feel free to jot down these ideas for then.

>>What I liked best was the balance between danger and training, which didn't just imply that Hefty and Fiddlesticks are good cops, but showed it.<<

:D That's exactly what I was aiming for. The approach to policing in T-America is very different than here, and I wanted to show that. The combat sequence is actually middle of the bell curve for BASH: great rational setup, capable assault against a high-risk target, most often ending with a few moderate casualties. They don't often get off unscathed, and they rarely have fatalities. It's not about power; it's about control. I was thinking today that one of the key differences is: L-America focuses on doing things as cheaply as possible, while T-America focuses on doing things as well as possible. So this is a look at the kind of police they've bothered to hire and cultivate. (They're probably both unhireable here because of the IQ cap alone. >_< This is why we can't have nice things.) The skills are there, and we get to see how they play out in a challenging situation.

>> I'll come back and reread the links I've skipped today, I'm certain, but that's also a reminder to say thanks, specifically, for including them. <<

I'm happy to hear that.
