The November 2013 Crowdfunding Creative Jam is now open with a theme of "seasonal changes." Visit us on Dreamwidth or LiveJournal. Leave prompts or just watch the goodies appear.
What I Have Written:
"Impermanent Frost" -- How climate change affects the fey.
"No One to Greet the Season" -- 354 lines, $177 (Frankenstein's Family)
This is a free-verse poem about what happens when the cold weather is unkind to Igor's back. It sucks to be unwell on Christmas, but it sucks a lot less if you have someone to take care of you. Despite the angsty topic, it's actually very sweet.
A cry of pain woke Victor
from a sound sleep.
The bedroom was dim,
windows heavily frosted
even on the inside,
the hearth no more than
a faint ruddy glow.
Christmas Day had arrived
with a raging blizzard
after the mildness of early winter.
"A Joy Forever" -- available for sponsorship after "No One to Greet the Season" goes up (Frankenstein's Family)
A seasonal clothing prompt led to the free-verse poem "A Joy Forever." Victor wants Igor to have some more winter clothes, and a trip to the village turns into a minor emergency. The poem also contains some musings on things of beauty.
After Christmas,
Victor encouraged Igor
to fold up his summer clothes
and store them in the cedar chest
along with Victor's own things.
They lifted up the lid of the bench seat,
and Victor sanded the inside of it
to bring up the fresh, sweet scent
while Igor folded their clothes.
Then they lined the chest with linen.
"Polar Opposites" -- 56 lines,$20 SOLD
From a vampire prompt, I got the free-verse poem "Polar Opposites." Vampires take advantage of the long nights ... but scientists aren't easy prey.
"Seasons of Sea and Stream" -- 51 lines,$20 SOLD
I was quite taken with your underwater prompt, which inspired the free-verse poem "Seasons of Sea and Stream." Read about the life cycle of Chinook salmon.
"Canning and Snow Caves" -- 33 lines,$15 SOLD
LJ user Nimitzbrood left a comment that inspired this poem. "Canning and Snow Caves" is a free-verse calendar of traditional skills.
"A Seasoned Fighter" -- 110 lines,$55 SOLD
From the prompt about seasons of life, I got the free-verse poem "A Seasoned Fighter." It's about a child abuse survivor who grows up to become a superhero and protect other people from abuse.
I was born in winter,
into a cold house
and a colder family.
There was never enough
of anything to go around --
not food, not clothing,
not a moment's affection.

"In the Cold" by
chordatesrock
This is post-apocalyptic fiction, a sequel to "The Unknown." Sometimes a haven turns out not as expected.
"Maintenance Work" by LJ user Freshbakedlady
This is a Team Hotel story, beautifully written, about what happens when a magical prosthetic arm breaks down.
