At least you have the experience. That's crucial. The most useful thing is actual crisis experience and the second is mental preparedness, because the first thing that usually goes wrong is someone freezing (where they can't think or move) or hesitating (which I did). Even if it's in a different crisis field, it gives you an edge over people without that.

Same here. I hate them, I'm bad with them, and since my magic flares in a crisis the tendency to obliterate technology goes up. The only time I'm the appropriate person to phone in an emergency is if I'm the ONLY person present.

Yay! I'm glad to hear of someone else following a similar magical protocol in emergencies. You got me thinking that I should do an article on this, so I jotted down the idea. Previously I've written about how to handle *magical* emergencies but not much about how to apply magic to *mundane* ones.
