Today's Adventures

Today we went out running errands.


We stopped at SaraLee's Healing Mountain Crystals. They had a great selection of Yooperlite today. We wound up choosing a cratered Moon that is about the size of my fist and, under ultraviolet light, thickly covered in orange flecks. I also picked out a green and yellow glass egg that is slightly UV-reactive, a rose quartz disc with a gold design on top, and a tillandsia.

We also caught Three Crows Emporium while they were open, although we didn't buy anything today. My partner Doug found something he wants to go back for though. Their new location has an absolutely obnoxious security system, so I don't plan to go back unless I'm actively shopping for something I think they'd have but nobody else does. Sad, because I liked the people and the place.

For lunch we got tongue tacos at Tacos y Nieves. That was delicious.

After more errands, we went to Goodwill. I didn't find anything there.

For supper we got gator bites from Shark Grill. It's the most tender gator I've ever had. Oddly, some of it looked like dark meat; I'm used to gator resembling white meat. But it doesn't taste like chicken, it tastes more like frog legs. <3

On the way home, we went to Harvest Market. I found some black grapes and several varieties of yogurt. They had lovely heirloom tomatoes, but I couldn't remember recipe parameters for anything, so I skipped those this time.

We also finished reading Taste of Home Easy Everyday Cooking 2025. We marked some recipes, not a lot, but some of those were very good examples of their kind, like the turkey pot pie.

It has been a productive day.

It's cool reading about your day. All of those stores sound cool. I used to hang out at places like that regularly when I was younger.

I usually do this kind of post when we go out and visit multiple places.

:D There are several other stores in that area that we skipped for lack of time and funds: an antique store, a Pagan thrift store, and a farmhouse decor shop.

There are several other Pagan / New Age / bohemian stores in the general area too, which is really nice.

There's a motion sensor that triggers a very loud, jarring whistle. I was hoping they'd turn the damn thing off during open hours, but no, it's always on. Fuck that, my money can stay in my pocket.

ugh, that sounds maddening. I don't even like the damn fan that goes off constantly in my bathroom but I'm not allowed under the lease to take it out.

I once visited a local branch of Saks which had an "ultrasonic" always-on alarm that I could hear. I lasted five minutes, and never went back.

I can't stand ultrasonic noise. Bug and mouse repellers are unbearable. So are some fluorescent lights and computers. I usually can't go in the electronics department of a store when they've got a bunch of machines on, all squealing loudly. >_<

Some places use the same things to repel children and teenagers, which is vicious. Illegal in Terramagne-America, but sometimes people still try it before someone complains.
