Ozempic's latest reported side effect: pregnancy

An increasing number of women are reporting unplanned pregnancies — even among those who've struggled with fertility — while taking popular anti-obesity and diabetes drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic.

Bear in mind that drugs typically make it to the market without thorough understanding of what they do. This is made worse by the tendency of studies to focus on straight white men. People who are pregnant or may become pregnant are often deliberately banned, which means unless a drug is designed FOR them, it goes out with no idea what it will do to them. 0_o And this is far from the first category of drugs to sabotage hormonal birth control methods. That's a serious problem now that Amerikkka blocks women from abortion care in many places.

So if you have a gestational reproductive system that you don't want to get pregnant, and you start taking a new drug, use condoms or nonprocreative sexual activities. You can't rely on the medical industry to know what it's doing -- or what a drug will do to you.
