Poem: "With You 'Til the End of the Line"

ysabetwordsmithThis is today's freebie, prompted by siberian_skys. It also fills the "Be Honest with Yourself" square in my 2-1-22 card for the Valentines Bingo fest.
"With You 'Til the End of the Line"
It began with Steve and Bucky,
but it didn't end there.
The two of them had
matching stars on
their shoulders and
had for as long as
they could recall.
Clint and Natasha
had arrowheads.
Phil had the bow.
Betty, Bruce, and Hulk
all had a water molecule --
covalent bonds being
the strongest for atoms.
Tony and JARVIS
had a line of code that
looked like nonsense
but was not.
After they survived
the Battle of Manhattan,
each of them discovered
a letter A, tiny and hidden.
It was the only textual mark
that any of them had -- they
were nothing if not discreet.
They were a team; they
were a family; and they
were something more.
Steve and Bucky
had said it the best:
"We're with you 'til
the end of the line."
It wasn't anything that
they talked about often.
It was just there, holding
them all together, no matter
how broken they might be.
It wasn't anything that
they revealed to outsiders.
The marks were all easily hidden.
Only Bucky wore his openly, and
since it was now paint on metal,
nobody realized what it was.
When you had soulbonds,
you had to be honest with
yourself and your soulmates ...
... but not necessarily anyone else.

Stars are exceedingly popular symbols of truth, protection, guidance, and spirituality, embodying light and journey through the night.
In the Native American culture, an arrow tattoo signifies strength in hunting as well as one being a powerful weapon in war. Native Americans cherished the arrow symbol because they were extremely adamant on protecting their home, family, and tribes from attack, and their weapon for safety was a bow and arrow.
