Johan is introduced in "Stained," then reappears in "Will Not," "The Garden of Shards," "Storm Wrack," "Uneasy Things," and "Fraying Bonds." Later he also appears in "The Formless Ones."

Althey is introduced in "Strike Twice" and the two of them remain together through "An Impetuous Presence," "Landfather," "Careful Trust," "No Other Teacher," "Winning Hands," and "Difficult Measures."
