You know, if you've got an old hot-air popcorn popper you can roast the beans that way in pretty short order...
I don't know if you're familiar with Callahan's God's Blessing Machine... it basically made Irish coffee from raw ingredients (green beans, heavy cream, Jaimesons, and water) but it included a microwave. You can't roast coffee beans that way; they come out all wrong. You *could* do it with the hot air popper... and you'd get *even more* of the smell of the roasted beans than the bitty fan in the nuker would put out. When I win the lottery and get tired of travelling, I'm opening a bookstore/coffeehaus called "Jake's", and seeing if I can make the God's Blessing Machine work. :)
