Poem: "Impermanent Frost"

Here is the freebie for the November 2013 [community profile] crowdfunding Creative Jam. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] alexconall.

"Impermanent Frost"

The first of the fey to die
was Jack Frost.

They watched his crown slowly melt,
the icy feathers moulting from his wings,

as global warming reduced the ice
below what he needed to sustain him.

Jack frost was warm and pink
when they laid him in his grave.

The mourners looked around at each other,
wondering who would be next.

Notes:

Jack Frost is a fey spirit associated with winter.

Global warming is a serious problem with implications for permafrost, ice caps, snowfall, and beyond.

And creepy, to think of Jack Frost in anything but wintry blues, grays, and browns.
