Buy Nothing Day

Today is Buy Nothing Day. 

Here are some ways to celebrate it.  Especially apt:

* Barter instead of buying.

* Promote the gift economy.

* Start a Givebox, Little Free Library, BookCrossing zone, or exchange shelf.

* Promote the right to repair.

* Learn how to fix things.

* Upcycle things.

* Create!

* Cook at home.

* Spend time with friends and family.

* Explore hobbies.

I bought groceries day before yesterday...and promptly remembered the other reason I hate shopping on holidays: crowds!

I actually havent bought anything on Black Friday for...oh, years. (Ex-retail worker too, so I have a few amusing stories.)

But it is kinda hilarious when the early (4:30am) shoppers tell you the store isn't open 'til 5... so you can go "Oh, it's okay, I work here. See you in half an hour!"

...I like shopping during off hours.
