Notes for "Falling Over Forward"
These are the notes for "Falling Over Forward."
"Falling is scary but good practice for life. We must fall. In love. Out of love. Into new experiences. Out of old habits. Deeper and further into ourselves. We must fall, life is falling over forward. The only choice we have is how we let go."
-- Troian Bellisario
"Self-defense is so important to know in today's society. It's not just that you might get mugged. It's more for confidence. It's the way you hold yourself when you walk into a room. Every step you take is more sure and you're much more aware of your surroundings. So, I think it's a really important thing -- especially for women."
-- Milla Jovovich
"The essential thing is to bear always in mind that trouble can appear at any time.
Be aware. Be ready. Be alert."
-- Jeff Cooper

The “Yellowstone” Trauma Kit – Mountain Man Medical $97.34 – $109.38
The Yellowstone Kit is named for the Yellowstone Park in Wyoming which is believed to be first seen by a non-native by Mountain Man John Colter. Stories told by Mountain Men over the next 40 years of boiling mud, steaming rivers, and petrified trees eventually brought more explorers to the region including famous Mountain Man and explorer Jim Bridger. Yellowstone eventually became the first National Park in the United States, approved by President Grant in 1872.
The Yellowstone Kit is a basic but comprehensive Trauma kit from Mountain Man Medical. When designing this kit the team set out to build something that they felt would suffice for 99% of trauma emergencies. Similar to the Sweetwater Kit but with added QuickClot, Chest Seals, and additional gauze.
We dare you to compare it to competing trauma kits that cost more and come with lower-quality components.
Also, when putting this kit together the team focused on compact components. This kit can easily be repurposed to a smaller pouch or an ankle IFAK or cargo pocket. Mini compression bandage, mini marker, small shears, tightly bundled gloves, compact chest seals and 2-inch gauze and bandages are some of the keys to that overall compact delivery.
Contents Include:
Black “Falcon” Pouch with First Aid Patch
Your Choice of Tourniquet
QuickClot Combat Hemostatic Gauze
Hyfin Compact Twin Chest Seal
North American Rescue Mini Emergency Trauma Bandage
2 Pairs Large Nitrile Gloves*
Trauma Shears
Black Permanent Mini Marker
2x Gauze Roll Bandage – 2 inch x 4 yards (Dynarex)
1 Elastic Wrap Bandage Hook/Loop Self-Closure – 2 inch x 5 yards (Dynarex)
T-America offers the option of both a rigid tourniquet and the flexible SWAT-T. Cas picks the SOF-T Wide, which packs down better.
Simon brings some gel mats to use as padding for teaching Dairinne about self-defense. Each mat is 1/4" thick, 36 inches wide by 75 inches long. They're made of resilient gel that absorbs impact almost completely, originally designed for cushioning burn victims. This style is thin enough to roll up and transport easily, thus popular for emergency supplies, and they can be stacked for extra padding.
Some martial arts training starts as early as 3 years old in local-America, but others wait until age 6-7 or later, and that's typical of Terramagne-America too. In Asia, where both the martial arts and the educational context are different, training sometimes starts even earlier with age-appropriate exercises. So in T-America, you'll see families like the Finns who practice various types of martial arts, and they often start as soon as the kids need a skill (like falling) or show interest. And why wouldn't you teach a toddler about safe falling skills? They will be falling a lot as they learn to walk, and at that age, they are natural mimics so it is easy to teach basic skills just by modeling.
Falling is a fundamental skill in martial arts and personal safety. Watch videos of basic and advanced techniques.
Situational awareness is the skill of observing your surroundings for potential risks across multiple aspects. You can develop this skill through various exercises and games. Follow the steps to increase your situational awareness.
Read about running for self-defense.
Learn how to choose and pack a gym bag. Simon has a black-and-tan gym bag of heavy-duty canvas. The two end pockets and top flap secure with zippers. The two side cargo pockets and the strap handle secure with velcro. On the far side, one large cargo pocket secures with buckles.
In finding creative uses for shoelaces, it helps to think of them as short pieces of string that don't fray. They're very useful to keep around.
