*whine* wantpienow *whine*

So I'm making this Ginger Gold pie today. It has three kinds of ginger plus Ginger Gold apples. I take this thing out of the oven and ZOMG my nose is having an orgasm.

And it's an hour to supper time yet. *whine* wantpienow *whine* Sometimes being responsible sucks. Because I'm really tempted to facedive into that dish.

Also in progress is a crockpot full of pork steaks with Granny Smith apples and sliced sweet onion.

Yes, I'm typing up recipes for both of these, which I'll post here if they taste as good as they smell. But ...

*whine* Want. Pie. NOW. *whine*

Life is short; eat dessert first.

Ummm

Do you have a recipe?

:D

Yes!

The recipe is in progress; I've got it partially typed. I'm awaiting feedback from my guinea pigs at supper before posting today's recipes.

Well, if you're ever in the central Illinois area, let me know. If the timing works out, you're welcome to eat supper with us.

That goes for friends in general. We tend to feed whomever is in the house when it's mealtime. Also Doug and I enjoy meeting e-friends in meatspace; we usually arrange the first meeting for a coffeehouse or some other public space. I've met e-friends at conventions too. It's a lot of fun. And then some of them show up on our doorstep...

I will do, if I make it over the pond again :D

Heh, I know exactly how you feel! I have to hold myself back from "facediving" every time I bake a Ginger Peach Crunch Pie. :-9

Speaking of baking, you've inspired me to make some brownies this weekend, something that I haven't done in a long, long time. I've also never used this particular recipe before, so if it turns out well I'll post it to the Cheap Cookin' community.

Wow!

Ginger Peach Crunch Pie sounds really wonderful. Share the recipe?

I look forward to hearing more about those brownies, too!

Ginger Peach Crunch Pie

The recipe for this pie is so short and simple that I can easily post it here:

6 or 7 large peaches, peeled and sliced
1 box Jiffy brand yellow cake mix (specified by brand because the box contains the perfect amount of mix to make one pie)
1/4 cup candied ginger, chopped (those who love ginger can certainly add more, but 1/4 cup is a good place to start)
1/2 stick of butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark, your choice)
Plain granulated sugar to taste (depending on how sweet or tangy you want your pie)

Mix the peaches with the plain sugar and ginger and put into a 9-inch pie plate. (And you don't even have to grease it!) Spread the cake mix over the peaches, then spread the brown sugar over the cake mix. Then pour the melted butter over everything. (I like to poke holes along the edges of the pie so the butter can run down to the peaches as well as spread over the crust.) Bake in a 250 degree oven for 2 hours. Yup, that's right - you have to deal with wonderful peachy smells wafting throughout your entire house for all that time until you have pie. It is so worth it, though!

And I'll post the brownie recipe, too, if it comes out successfully! Probably later tonight or tomorrow.

(Note to self: need cooking icon! ;)

ooooOOOOoooooOOOOooooo....

*takes out recipe notebook to jot down*

Glad it looks good to you!

And the pie tastes as good as its recipe reads, I promise.

(This is actually one of the first pies I learned how to make, so it has a very fond place in my memories. :)

Uhm...you forgot to invite us to dinner. We'll bring the ice cream.

I actually did invite e-friends to dinner in a previous reply. If you're ever coming through central Illinois, let us know, eh?

Will do.

*stomps foot*

I did! You were previously engaged, WAH.

Sorry about that. Maybe we can connect next year at the Broomcorn Festival.

STAY IN YOUR OFFICE!

You have the whole house between you and pie.
