Good News

Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

What good news have you had recently? Are you anticipating any more? Have you found a cute picture or a video that makes you smile? Is there anything your online friends could do to make your life a little happier?

a small thing

I got some grocery shopping done today. Considering how badly the clerk at the bus office messed up when trying to put money on my account, THAT took (a) a call to my bank to confirm that everything was fine with my card (b) calling the bus office the next day to speak to a supervisor, who again tried to add money, which was DECLINED, again, and (c) waiting another day and trying to add money, which breezed through just as it SHOULD have. All of which happened before (d) I could schedule the trip to grocery shop.

Does that sound like a complete pain in the most annoying part of the anatomy? (Say, perhaps, getting jabbed in the nose by the corner of a cabinet door?) Yeah. I think so, too.

It's such a ridiculous thing, but getting it DONE did make me feel better. Now, let's see if I can spread the trips over more than six weeks, this time...

I'm glad you got it done eventually.

Are you into older pattern books for knit or crochet? We went to a library sale recently and there were a bunch. If you are, I could watch future sales for more.

Absolutely and totally! Knit, crochet, macrame, and eventually, I want to learn to tat.

I'll keep an eye out. The library had several each of crochet and knit booklets, at least one of tatting or some other lace, though I didn't see macrame. We also like to hit rummage sales and flea markets, so that's another possibility.

I still haven't figured out where the local library holds their book sales, since it's only one day every three months.

Ask the next time you go there. The librarians should know the schedule or be able to direct you where to find it. Usually there is a hardcopy bulletin board and/or a webpage with library activities listed.

Went to (filk con)D.F.D.F. last weekend with (nibling and bandmate)m. We had a slot in the "Main Concert"*, and absolutely nailed it.

• The Main Concert is a series of 2-3-song sets, signed up for in advance. They're interspersed with segments of auction (to help pay for the con), which allowed for set-up and tear-down of each set without interrupting the flow. Brilliant!

My offspring (previously SlytherClaw Teen, then HistoryTeen, now History Peacock), has: graduated from community college, with honors, and honor society, gotten two awards in history from the community college that came with scholarships, has been accepted at their university of choice in a safer 🌈 state, and earned significant $$ merit scholarships towards their last two years for the bachelor degree in history.

Those are great accomplishments. \o/ I wish them luck with the bachelor's in history. It's a challenging time to be studying that subject, when other people are trying to erase it.
