Photos: Prairie Garden

These pictures are mostly from the prairie garden.


Sunchokes are already over knee high.  These are the most droughtproof plants I grow.  They need zero care.  They give zero fucks about drought.




This is the view looking west over the prairie garden.




Perennial Pinks bloom along the front of the notch in the prairie garden.




This wildflower is blooming across the path from the notch in the prairie garden.




Here is part of this year's cross path, looking southeast.  I sowed grass and clover seed here.




This path is the second from the west, sown with little bluestem seeds this year.




This is the first path from the west, sown with wildflowers and zinnias this year.




Blackberries have flower buds.




This path runs east-west near the south edge of the prairie garden, sown with Monarch Butterfly Wildflower Seed Mix plus extra zinnias.




Hardneck garlic is growing under a sapling in the savanna.  The big fuzzy leaves are comfrey.




The black irises are almost ready to bloom in the tulip bed.




The last of the tulips splay their petals in the wildflower garden.  These are orange and black parrot tulips.




A robin perches in the forest garden near the center of this picture.




A sparrow perches above the fly-through feeder. I shot these last two pictures through the bathroom window.
