We have most of the computer issues solved, except the popups which we're still working on.  It's much more usable now so I'm getting more work done.

Which Os & browser are you running? Because if you can get it, I find a combination of Adblocker Ultimate and Ublock Origin to be pretty good at getting rid of pop-ups, but they're usually only both available for Firefox.

Windows 7 and Google Chrome.

These are popups generated by Windows, not from outside. New motherboard means needing to re-register software, and so far we can't find the necessary documentation for that. Nerve-wracking.

Oh right! That sort... you can poke around in the settings to prevent that, but I wouldn't recommend it. Partly because you can brick things that way, and partly because it doesn't work reliably, as in prevent the pop-up notifications. Microsoft don't like people messing with their 'Windows Experience' and updates tend to undo any modifications you've made to bits of the systems architecture.

Of course, you could poke around on certain web sites and find the necessary keys to register the software...

Originally it was becoming erratic in its ability to turn back on after being turned off. A new motherboard fixed that.

First day back, it worked fine. Next day, the software was doing bizarre things. A whole lot of work by my partner Doug got most of that fixed, except the popups.

Now it's working normally, except the popups which are because the software needs to be re-registered. We are still trying to find the materials necessary to do that -- and if we can't, that's another huge problem because the software may stop working altogether, unless we find some other solution. >_<

And I can no longer simply buy a new computer and new software with it, because the later versions aren't usable for me anymore. We tried that the previous time the computer acted up.
