"Rose-Colored Sunglasses"

[July 2022]

Only the finest pieces
of rose quartz could
serve this purpose:

a pale clear pink,
without opacity or
cracks, and just
the subtlest of veils
drifting at the edges.

The stones are ground
into simple lenses for
prescription sunglasses,

handed out to the bereaved,
the depressed, the anxious,
anyone who desperately needs

to look at the world through
rose-colored glasses.

Notes:

Pink sunglasses actually are popular for various purposes; they reduce eye strain and enhance visual clarity.

Pink is a calming and hopeful color in color psychology.
