Birdfeeding

Today is hot and muggy.

I fed the birds.  I've seen house finches and doves.

While we were out driving, we passed acre after acre of restored prairie.  This is a big deal because so little is left, and most of it is an acre here, a half acre there.  These were multiple patches of at least 10-20 acres with different plants -- purple coneflowers, yellow coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, Queen Anne's lace, milkweed, goldenrod (not blooming yet), and one had bluestem grass with its turkey feet open.  :D  My suspicion is that somebody, or several somebodies in close proximity, read about the prairie loss problem and went, "Welp, I got land, I can fix that," and drove their tractor around for a weekend.  If they didn't get the seed free from a state program, that represents thousands  of dollars of native plant seed.
