Gender Gap in Magic

People are more impressed by male magicians than female ones -- until they try to analyze how the trick was done.

So there's an interesting reason why some people may be less gender-prejudiced than others, if they habitually tend to analyze things.  I do that, but then it breaks most tests about gender bias.  ("Which of these pictures is more competent, Jack or Jane?"  "No information about competence has been provided.")

I do a lot of online surveys & stuff for pocket change & that sort INFURIATES me. They'll give me a series of photos that are extreme closeups of peoples' faces & ask me things like 'is this person competent/polite/whatever' & I'm like I DO NOT KNOW, I DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION RELEVANT TO THAT JUDGEMENT.

I tend to wind up giving all the brown people & women really high scores, just to mess with their numbers.
