Poem: "Invention"

This poem came out of the January 7, 2020 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] technoshaman. It has been sponsored by [personal profile] janetmiles. This poem belongs to the Steamsmith series. It directly follows "On the Head of a Pin," so read that first or this will make no sense.

now.. I wonder what such mico-engine could be used for.. perhaps an equally small autonoma.

Not so much nano-tech as micro-tech...

..and now I have a mental image of a army of tiny tommies, all inside a bigger engine, maintaining it, repairing it, even upgrading it if needs be.

The neat thing is, you only need to build the first one... then that one builds another, and those two build four.. and so on.. as long as you keep the raw materials coming and have them running that program. Then when you've got enough, switch them to maintenance.

I have no idea what prompt that would fit.. but the next time a suitable one comes up, considering this a advance prompt!!

Lit-up screens, or a fancy mechanized chess set (or other sort of game?) Maybe a sort of sewing machine, ornamental beads and buttons, or toys (dollhouse, pets).

I wouldn't have used steel, at least not before testing other materials. Maybe glass, diamond, monocrystal aluminum (sapphire, in other words), or something similar. But then, I have ulterior information about microtech and nanotech devices.
