Thank you for the Panettone!

One of my lovely fans sent us a panettone.  This is Italian fruitcake: light, sweet bread with bits of real dried fruit, not the candied crud.  :D  It is quite tasty.  We've been slicing it up for desserts.

It’s like challah and fruitcake had a baby, before the fruitcake was marinated in alcohol.

Oh! Here in Brazil it's traditional to have panettone during Christmas time. There are even some variations: like with chocolate or dulce de leche instead of fruit. It's tasty indeed! :D

It usually does have candied peel in it, although it is possible that the Italian method of candying produces a different result to what you're used to?

It really is such a wonderful desert of treat with tea/coffee! :D

If you find that it gets a little dry before you get through the whole thing, it makes excellent french toast or bread pudding.
