Okay, you've got me hooked. Special interest in large birds is a thing. (rabbit holes for a little while, then remembers that I have things to do)
Near my parents' house, about three years ago, there was a group of at least a hundred vultures. We ended up watching a couple of them fight on the roof of an ex-one-room-schoolhouse a street over from us while another forty or so looked on. We've got hawks and possibly a couple nests of golden eagles around because we're pretty rural, but the vultures were a bit crazy at that point. They've died down in the years since, though.

I love them too. We have a walnut tree that's been hit by lightning so the uppermost branches are dead, and they love to perch there. They also like several other walnut trees for the open branches.

Wow! I think the most I've seen was between one and two dozen.

Ooh!
Probably changed trees from a change in the wind.
Re: Ooh!
We also have vultures, kestrels, and great-horned owls. There are fewer barn owls than there used to be.

We get red kites circling above the woodland here.
