So very true. I think a key thing, albeit subtle, in Lawrence's shift is simply that he's getting more nonviolent touch from Stan, because Stan is socially handsy. It's all shoulder pats and nudges until they get close enough for Stan to start petting Lawrence's hair, but it matters.
