Poor Life Choices

Never give up anything that makes you happy just because other people think it is silly or childish.  Especially never give up an effective coping skill!  Yes, I have stuffed animals.  I am currently most fond of Snoozimals and Squishmallows for practical use, but we also have a weird stuffy collection for artistic merit.

Preach, sister, preach!

For me, it's guitars (as well as classic EDM "toys" lately) and workshop tools. Oh, and a nice, middling-to-long bicycle ride.

I get the poor life choices thing about bikes all. The. Time!

But, if I weigh up the petrol, rego, insurances, servicing, breakdowns, etc, all the bikes I have ever owned, combined, including mods and maint, don't even come close to the price of the most expensive car I've ever owned (a 2002 V6 holden station wagon, the family car, roughly equivalent to a chevrolet family wagon) and 5 years later, I sold it for less than I paid for my Greenspeed trike (my latest ride.) My most expensive bike (the Greenspeed) was only just a about the price, before e-assist, of the second cheapest jalopy I've owned, and that "bomb" lasted me barely 6 months. I haven't run a car for 10 years now. Amazing what people call poor life choices :-D

I do acknowledge that I have the privilege of living in a city with reasonable bicycle infrastructure (not really dutch level, but OK jts), and with an excellent choice of trains (me and the bike), the world's largest tram network (just me, or when travelling with a non-biking friend) and, if I absolutely have to, a bus network that is going battery electric, but I hate buses. Bussing is a poor life choice when there are other public transport choices available.

It's wild to me that there are places where biking is considered childish! Where I live, I think almost every adult I know owns a bike and uses it regularly and where I'm from, lots of adults bike as a weekend pastime or for exercise!
