Notes for "The Care and Feeding of Supervillains"
These are the notes for "The Care and Feeding of Supervillains."
Lore (Laurel Harden) -- She has fair skin, brown eyes, and wavy brown hair cut short. She is slim with shallow curves. She is a lesbian. Her heritage is American. She speaks English, French, German, and Spanish. She is 25 years old in 1975. Laurel grew up in Boston, Eastbord, Massachusetts. The smarter she got, the stupider other people seemed, until she met some other Super-Intellects from Kraken. She joined without looking back, and took the cape name Lore. She works on many projects for sex/gender equality and superpowers. Among those is The Care and Feeding of Supervillains.
Origin: Her superpowers grew in gradually.
Uniform: Kraken uniform of dexflan and capery. The jumpsuits are sensibly designed with sleek fit, plenty of pockets and fasteners for equipment. They provide Expert (+4) Camouflage to a designated user, but if worn by anyone else, turn garish neon colors. Most of the time, however, she wears masculine office clothes. Off duty, she favors somewhat more casual menswear. Her base colors are brown, gray, and white occasionally accented with brighter shades of red, blue, gold, or green.
Qualities: Good (+2) Fast, Good (+2) Krakenguard, Good (+2) Lesbian, Good (+2) Linguistic Intelligence, Good (+2) Writer
Poor (-2) Fitting In
Powers: Good (+2) Super-Intellect
Motivation: Knowledge is power.
Pipistrelle (Petriana Thomas) -- She has fair skin, hazel eyes, and long curly red hair. She is short and slim with shallow curves. Her heritage is Britannian. She speaks English. She is 18 years old in 2010. Petriana grew up in London, Britannia. Her parents abandoned her when her superpowers developed. Since then, she has gotten by on the streets. Pipistrelle tends to run with other wild young things, from bohemians to gang members to supervillains, but she is not actually a criminal herself.
Origin: Her superpowers developed at puberty.
Uniform: She wears bohemian girl clothes, often a halter or tube top to accommodate her wings above a skirt or pants. She loves patchwork and embroidery. Her neutrals are brown and ivory, accented with cool earth tones.
Qualities: Good (+2) Artist, Good (+2) Balance, Good (+2) Life of the Party, Good (+2) Street Smart, Good (+2) Wild Bohemian Girl
Poor (-2) Abandonment Issues
Powers: Average (0) Bat Wings, Average (0) Echolocation
Her wings are too small to fly or even glide, and are delicate, but help with balance. She likes to use them as an umbrella in the rain. Pipistrelle also has some other bat traits, like a nocturnal schedule and a taste for insect snacks.
Motivation: To have fun.
The common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) is a small pipistrelle microbat whose very large range extends across most of Europe, North Africa, South-Central Asia, and may extend into Korea. It is one of the most common bat species in the British Isles.

The Care and Feeding of Supervillains is a handbook that Kraken keeps updating, and the closest thing to a soup care guide that there is yet, although it rambles across a lot more than just superpower training and medical attention. It is often 'printed' as a palimpsest over an existing book, such as a phonebook or textbook, using Illusion or something similar. It's like a watermark which only becomes visible in a certain direction, in this case, if someone has the gizmotronic or supergizmotronic 'key' to see it. That 'key' is customarily delivered by a pat on the shoulder.
SPOON was founded 1952.
"A Fabric of Our Own Making"
[Monday, January 11, 1954]
Supervillains study chromaflax and dexflan, discovering that they can imprint a single owner on fabric or paper.
"The Nexus of Choice and Persuasion"
Story Date: March 1954
Aldous Fruehauf and Ronald Wells brainstorm ideas for the first health nexus.
"The Lights Behind Us"
[June 7, 1954]
"With a Hammer in His Hand"
Follows "The Lights Behind Us"
[1955]
Summary: Granny Whammy is trying to find which historical figures may have been soups. When she finds a legend of John Henry, she learns that it's just as important to consider the weaknesses that soups have as it is to watch for their strengths.
"The Anything Goes Games"
Story Date: Summer 1956
"The Right Combination of Features" (not posted yet)
Story Date: Monday, December 16, 1985
Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 4:15 PM in Rain City, Washington
Summary: An annoyed supervillain deals with an internet provider.
Superpowers include Air Powers, Zip-Lining, Death Field, Lava Form, and Shadowtripping (teleportation involving shadows). There is an unfortunate tendency to favor powers that "look better" and think that the "creepy" ones only belong to supervillains. Which, naturally, pushes people with such powers toward the black regardless of their personal preference.
Some types of fire extinguisher can cause frostbite or other injuries. Fire Elementals are especially prone to suffering damage if hosed with a fire extinguisher or even plain water when they burst into flame. It is vitally important not to try putting them out, which is a challenge if the flames are spreading.
Wing membrane injuries heal surprisingly well with just rest and good nutrition, as opposed to medical repairs.
