Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This is the first of the new batch about hobbies.

Basketball
Basketball is typically a team sport, with 5 players per team each defending one side of a rectangular court. Points are scored by putting the ball through the opposing team's basket. However, the nature of the game makes it easy to play with other numbers -- one on one is very popular -- or alone. Many parks have a half-court or even just a basket, if they don't have room for a full court. While the original version tries to minimize physical contact between players, street versions like "chink" (referring to the sound of a ball passing through a durable chain net) or "demolition basketball" can be much rougher, depending on player preferences. Conversely, basketball is among the most popular wheelchair sports.
