Poem: "Justice and Blood"

This poem is for the sunshine_challenge and Prompt 4 Bonus: Hematite. It also fills the "punch" square in my 7-1-22 card for the Body Parts Bingo fest. It belongs to the series Arts and Crafts America.




"Justice and Blood"

[July 2022]

Wherever blind Justice appears,
the scale in her hand gleams
with a weighty metallic gray.

It is made from hematite,
for grounding and concentration,
but also a hidden reminder:

when cut, the stone bleeds
with a sudden punch of red.

Notes:

Hematite is an iron-based mineral associated with grounding and justice. When solid, it is metallic gray; but when cut or powdered, it shows the red.

Oh so interesting about the cut/powdered hematite, but it totally makes sense given the iron.
