He's nice, gentle, good at problem solving, protective, respectful of women/kids, willing to share his resources (material and knowledge), is chill with people who fall outside of conventional expectations or norms, has good emotional fluency, and doesn't fell the need to do dominance posturing to prove he's not weak.
It would be interesting to see if that casual mentoring-the-precocious-kid relationship lasted, at all - and how he'd react to teenage Cas.
