The zoomwagon crew are basically siblings, yes, while Molly and Bethan are both dating and having sex (separately) with Danys. One of Dave's subliminal issues is that the pillars of his life are work, family, and his community involvement. There's not a lot of room for the latter, given the hours they work, so making time for more than a casual date or two feels unfair to the potential partner.
