Shiv has had some confidence in certain things for a while, like his knife skills. Having the courage to try a different gang for a couple of months, that's new.

Really this whole storyline of Shiv in Motor City is about him stretching his limits in a reasonably safe way. He's going to make some mistakes, and he knows that going in, but he's confident enough that he can handle it.

Until he actually starts making the mistakes, of of course, which doesn't take long because the gangs are very different. But he'll get through it.
