There are several stories in the Whateley universe that deal with the reactions of folks to "mutants" with angelic aspects/powers.

One is the daughter of a megachurch pastor and wants nothing to do with her father (in part because as part of her powers she can't stand physical contact with men, but mostly because he is *not* a nice person) Oddly, she has to problem with MtF trans folks... :-)

Another seems to have healing powers and part of the manifestation is "halos" of light (often with wings). He wound up taking refuge at a Catholic church. They mean well, but he eventually has to be rescued.
