Bear in mind that 1) I've been wordsmithing for decades and 2) this is my dayjob. It's not a level comparison with most fanwriters who do it only as a hobby. I've had more opportunity to build up a massive archive.

Then again, writing is also a chosen means of relaxation for me -- I'll write fanfic rather than, I don't know, whatever other people do like going to bars or sports.
