This poem came out of the January 8, 2019 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from [personal profile] librarygeek and [personal profile] chanter_greenie. It also fills the "underdog" square in my 5-1-18 Gimmicks / Roles / Characters card for the Pro Wrestling fest. This poem has been sponsored by [personal profile] janetmiles.

"As the Heavens Are Higher Than the Earth"

God has made
all things that were,
or are, or will become.

From the grain of sand
to the mightiest mountain,
from the mustard seed
to the giant sequoia,
from the sparrow
to the elephant to
humankind, they are
all divine creations.

God doesn't make mistakes.

The lesbian priestess and
the gay priest love whom they love
by the will of God, whose name is Love,
and who pours out divine regard
over the whole of Creation.

That which is loving
can never be a sin.

God doesn't make mistakes.

The neurovariant priest
is as much of the mind of God
as anyone else, for no one way
of thinking could reflect infinity.

Even God has some autistic moments,
which is why the planets spin. It keeps
them stable in their orbits as they dance
along the lines their Maker has ordained.

God doesn't make mistakes.

The disabled priestess is
no farther from the heart of God
than was Jesus broken on the cross
or the Jews lost in the Holocaust.

Are we not all broken from time to time?
And yet God loves the broken as much
as the whole, for no bird is born
without first breaking an egg.

God doesn't make mistakes.

The transgender clergyperson
whose spirit and flesh have
different shapes is made thus
by a limitless Creator, and perfect
with or without modification.

As we are all limitless co-creators,
it is up to each of us how we shape
the bodies in which we dwell.

If you cannot understand why
these things are so, remember:

For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways My ways. For as
the heavens are higher than the Earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts

If you look upon these people of God --
the gay priest and the lesbian priestess,
the neurovariant priest, the disabled priestess,
the transgender clergyperson, each of them
in their own way a reflection of All That Is --
and you cannot see their worth, remember:

God doesn't make mistakes.

Transgender, homosexual, autistic, and disabled people are exactly as they should be. I should note that, being Pagan, I do not personally believe in divine infallibility. However, other people do, so I have cited their perspectives.

“I know of nobody who is purely autistic, or purely neurotypical. Even God has some autistic moments, which is why the planets spin.”

Just painful. I'm Jewish, but my Roman Catholic friends have been in tears lately.

I needed the comfort, not the pain of knowing what some of my library patrons were dealing with in their church.

I live in Pennsylvania, and our Attorney General has been prosecuting such priests, AND the higher clergy and Church that was protecting the abusers.

I see... well, I guess the Church was long over-due a cleansing, but yeah, it would be painful.

Still, let there be a healing too.

God does not make mistakes. The Church, however, is all too human, and does.

The mistake was in sheltering the evil.

That's the concept I couldn't find! Thanks, MamaK!

The paedophiles are acting wrong, hurting others, hurting children. Then the Church by sheltering the evildoers, acted with even more evil, knowingly. The paedophiles may justify their actions to themselves (vomit), but the responsibility of the Church should be to help and protect relative innocents before the confessed sinners. "What you have done for the least of these, you have done for me."

I actually believe in limited divine infallibility. Each true Power of spirit has something, some particular thing in which they are truly infallible, but it can be of a limited nature. Higher Powers might be able to divert or subvert it, they might only be infallible under very specific circumstances, and so on.

But when I believe (for example) that Siva is infallible when it comes to knowing When The End Is, I mean that.

That's an interesting way to approach it, to give a teachable moment...

OTOH, I am Reminded that yes, even _that_ G-d makes mistakes. The original rainbow? was an apology. Not that some people would take it as such.
